GC 2018: Ogunlewe misses out narrowly as Adegoke finishes 7th in 100m final
Seye OGUNLEWE finished with the same time as Jamaica’s Johan Blake but his 0.143 reaction time compared to Blake’s 0.139 meant he could only settle for the 4th position in the men’s 100m final of the 2018 CommonWealth games.
Nigeria’s hope of adding to the silver medals won by the table tennis team and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi in the Men’s Shot Put has been dashed as the Nigerian duo in the men’s 100m finals failed to make the podium.
All hopes were on the duo of Seye OGUNLEWE and Enoch Olaoluwa ADEGOKE to finish on the podium after the duo made it to the 2018 men’s final but fell short of the expectations.
Although Enoch Olaoluwa ADEGOKE started the race in one of the most coveted lanes, lane 5, he could only finish in the 7th position with a time of 10.35s. While Seye OGUNLEWE who started in lane 2 finished 4th with a time of 10.19s his personal best.
South Africa duo of Akani SIMBINE won the gold medal with a time of 10.03s, and Henricho BRUINTJIES with a time of 10.17s won the silver medal while Jamaica’s Yohan BLAKE with the same time as Nigeria’s Ogunlewe but better reaction time of 0.139 took the bronze medal.
