Ajakaye nets hat-trick as Nigerian girls run riot
Opeyemi Ajakaye scored thrice as Nigeria’s Falconets trounced Niger Republic U20 7-0 in their WAFU B U20 opener in Kumasi.
Falconets Coach Chris Danjuma invited a mix of U-17 and U-20 players for the tournament in Ghana and saw his side click quickly as they took the lead inside three minutes through Opeyemi Ajakaye.
The teenager doubled hers and the team’s tally ten minutes later before Chinyere Kalu scored in the 30th minute to put the Falconets three goals up.
Adaobi Okah scored Nigeria’s fourth from the penalty spot in the 49th minute before Ajakaye completed her hat-trick just five minutes later to make it 5-0.
Victoria Alani thundered home an effort from distance in the 64th minute before Chioma Olise headed home a seventh for the team in added time.
The Falconets have started their campaign with three points against their neighbours. They will face Togo and Burkina Faso in the other group matches.
