2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Ademola Lookman to arrive late at Super Eagles camp – Official
In-form Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman will arrive late to the Super Eagles training camp in Uyo due to a rescheduled Serie A match. Lookman’s club, Atalanta, will play against Fiorentina at home on Sunday.
The Super Eagles are set to open their camp this weekend, but Lookman is expected to join them on Monday at the earliest.
The Super Eagles, 2013 African champions, will face Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday.
A top team official, who requested anonymity, confirmed Lookman’s delayed arrival: “Lookman won’t arrive in camp this weekend. His team is playing a league match on Sunday, and he aims to increase his goal tally following his spectacular performance in recent matches.”
Lookman, 26, made history by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in a Europa League final, leading Atalanta to their first major European trophy. He has scored five goals in the Europa League and doubled that tally in Serie A. A hat-trick on Sunday against Fiorentina will allow him to match his Serie A goal total from last season, when he netted 13 goals.
