Taiwo Awoniyi meets France Ambassador ahead of Paris Olympics

Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi has made headlines for teaming up with France’s Ambassador to Nigeria ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Awoniyi, 26, shared his meeting with the French Ambassador, Jean François Hasperue, on social media. In the photos, Awoniyi, dressed in a white shirt, posed with the ambassador.

The message accompanying the photos read, “Adding to @FranceInNigeria’s partnerships in sports, Chargé d’Affaires Jean François Hasperue welcomed Taiwo Awoniyi of @ng_supereagles, along with representatives from 🇫🇷 clubs @fcnantes, @dfco_officiel, @parisfc, & @nimesolympique discussions on partnership opportunities in 🇳🇬 football.”

This partnership aims to enhance cooperation between Nigerian football and French clubs as preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics continue.

Despite not being part of the Super Eagles squad that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, and not receiving a call-up for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Awoniyi remains active off the pitch.

Recently, a video went viral showing Awoniyi humbly cleaning up plates and cups after a meal at a gathering, showcasing his down-to-earth nature. This act of humility came shortly after he was unveiled as a brand ambassador for Dettol in Nigeria.
