Brown Ideye fires subtle shot at Super Eagles coach Finidi George
Former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has questioned the abilities of head coach Finidi George following Nigeria’s recent 2-1 defeat to the Benin Republic.
The loss came after high expectations were set by Finidi George and some players ahead of their matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Despite the hopes, Nigeria failed to secure the needed points and now sits in fifth place in Group C, with only three points from four games.
Brown Ideye, who won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, took to social media to express his frustration with the team’s performance and criticize Finidi.
On Twitter, Ideye wrote, “Football no be Cho! Cho! Cho! [talking too much] If u no show working inside pitch no results period.” He emphasised that success in football comes from actions on the field, not just words.
With Nigeria trailing behind South Africa, Rwanda, Lesotho, and Benin in their World Cup qualifying group, Ideye insists that Finidi needs to focus on delivering results on the pitch.
The Super Eagles still have six more qualifying matches to play, including games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, giving them a chance to improve their standing.
