Euro 2024 Group stage summary: Who goes!!!!!

The EURO 2024 group stage provided endless drama from start to finish, now all eyes and attention shift to the 15 games remaining: the knockout rounds.

With the group games completed, this report looks at the standings, who goes home, and who goes through to the last-16 of Euro 2024.

The field at EURO 2024 has been whittled down to 16 teams (from 24), with six group winners, six group runners-up and the four best third-place teams advancing to the round of 16, which kicks off on Saturday (June 29), two games each day for four straight days beginning with Switzerland vs Italy and Germany vs Denmark.

Below is everything you need to know about the knockout rounds, which teams have reached the last 16 and who can still make it, and how.

The teams that have qualified for the EURO Round of 16 2024 are Germany, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, England, Austria, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Slovenia, Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Turkey, and Georgia.

EURO 2024 round of 16 schedule:

  • Match 37: June 29 – Germany v Denmark – Dortmund – 3pm
  • Match 38: June 29 – Switzerland v Italy – Berlin – 12pm
  • Match 39: June 30 – Spain v 3rd Georgia – Cologne – 3pm
  • Match 40: June 30 – England v Slovakia – Gelsenkirchen – 12pm
  • Match 41: July 1 – Portugal v Slovenia – Frankfurt – 3pm
  • Match 42: July 1 – France v Belgium – Dusseldorf – 12pm
  • Match 43: July 2 – Romania v Netherlands – Munich – 12pm
  • Match 44: July 2 – Austria v Turkiye – Leipzig – 3pm

Scenarios for each team to advance to the EURO Round of 16:

Group A:

  • Germany: 3 GP, 2 W, 1 D, 0 L, +6 GD, 7 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Switzerland: 3 GP, 1 W, 2 D, 0 L, +2 GD, 5 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Hungary: 3 GP, 1 W, 0 D, 2 L, -3 GD, 3 PTS – ELIMINATED
  • Scotland: 3 GP, 0 W, 1 D, 2 L, -5 GD, 1 PTS – ELIMINATED

Germany and Switzerland have qualified for the final 16. Hungary could reach the last 16 as one of the four best third-place teams. Scotland are eliminated.

Group B:

  • Spain: 3 GP, 3 W, 0 D, 0 L, +5 GD, 9 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Italy: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Croatia: 3 GP, 0 W, 2 D, 1 L, -3 GD, 2 PTS – ELIMINATED
  • Albania: 3 GP, 0 W, 1 D, 2 L, -2 GD, 1 PTS – ELIMINATED

Spain and Italy have qualified for the last 16. Croatia and Albania are eliminated.

Group C:

  • England: 3 GP, 1 W, 2 D, 0 L, +1 GD, 5 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Denmark: 3 GP, 0 W, 3 D, 0 L, 0 GD, 3 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Slovenia: 3 GP, 0 W, 3 D, 0 L, 0 GD, 3 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Serbia: 3 GP, 0 W, 2 D, 1 L, -1 GD, 2 PTS – ELIMINATED

England, Denmark, and Slovenia have qualified for the last 16, with the latter qualifying as one of the four-best third-place teams. Serbia are eliminated.

Group D:

  • Austria: 3 GP, 2 W, 0 D, 1 L, +3 GD, 6 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • France: 3 GP, 1 W, 2 D, 0 L, +1 GD, 5 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Netherlands: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Poland: 3 GP, 0 W, 1 D, 2 L, -2 GD, 1 PTS – ELIMINATED

Austria and France qualify for the last 16 as the top two teams in Group D, while the Netherlands are assured a knockout round spot as one of the four-best third-place teams. Poland was eliminated after losing its first two matches.

Group E:

  • Romania: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, +1 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Belgium: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, +1 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Slovakia: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Ukraine: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, -2 GD, 4 PTS – ELIMINATED

Romania have won group E as all four teams finished on the same number of points but Romania finished top on total goals scored. Belgium finished in second and Slovakia finished third and reached the last 16 as one of the four-best best third-place teams. Ukraine were eliminated from the competition.

Group F:

  • Portugal: 3 GP, 2 W, 0 D, 1 L, +2 GD, 6 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Turkiye: 3 GP, 2 W, 0 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 6 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Georgia: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Czechia: 3 GP, 0 W, 1 D, 2 L, -1 GD, 1 PTS – ELIMINATED

Portugal, Turkiye, and Georgia have qualified for the last 16. Czechia are eliminated.

Ranking of third-placed teams:

  • Netherlands: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
  • Georgia: 3 GP, 1 W, 1 D, 1 L, 0 GD, 4 PTS – QUALIFIED FOR LAST 16
