Super Falcons camp update: Michelle Alozie and four others expected in Seville as team prepares for 2024 Olympic games

As Nigeria intensifies its preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics, five Super Falcons players are set to join the national team’s training camp in Seville, Spain

The defensive trio of Michelle Alozie, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Osinachi Ohale are expected to link up with the squad on Monday. Joining them will be Esther Okoronkwo and Nicole Payne. These players will complement the ten players already in camp, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, midfielder Deborah Abiodun, and goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi.

The training camp opened on Sunday, and the atmosphere was lively as the Super Falcons began their sessions with enthusiasm. Led by Ajibade, known for her blue hair, the team displayed high spirits and readiness as they danced into their first training session.

Michelle Alozie and Esther Okoronkwo had in separate interviews expressed their excitement about participating in the Olympics for the first time. This enthusiasm is expected to translate into strong performances on the field as they aim to achieve historic success.

Nigeria is making its first Olympic appearance since 2008 and has been drawn into a challenging group alongside Brazil, Spain, and Japan. The Super Falcons will kick off their campaign on July 25 against Brazil in Bordeaux, followed by matches against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31 in Nantes.

Fans and team members alike are hopeful that the squad will quickly gel in Seville and start strong in France. The ultimate goal is to leave a lasting impact and possibly push for their first-ever Olympic gold medal.

The Super Falcons’ training camp in Seville marks a crucial phase in their preparation for Paris 2024. With a blend of experienced players and fresh talent, the team is poised to take on the challenges ahead.
