‘Nigeria must attack’ – Osaze Odemwinge speaks on Super Eagles style
Remains optimistic Nigeria can still qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup
Osaze Odemwingie has urged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to adopt a more attacking style of play to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At 43 years old, Odemwingie has recently transitioned to a new career, having completed a professional golfers course.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers, he emphasised the need for a shift in tactics.
Odemwingie expressed his thoughts during an interview on No Holds Barred with Brila FM, saying, “We have the players and materials needed.

” Personally, I didn’t enjoy watching our team play in the last Nations Cup because we didn’t perform like our usual selves. However, we need to play defensively against top teams like Germany, Argentina, and Brazil, but be more ambitious in the African Cup.
He added: ” If we take that into consideration while playing our remaining games, and from our recent history, we can compete with any team on their home soil with a full stadium, we need to know in the back of our minds that we have to win these away games.”
The Super Eagles’ coaching position remains vacant after Finidi George’s resignation following just two games in charge.
Odemwingie hopes for a swift resolution to the coaching situation to help the team regain stability and focus. He stressed the importance of harmony and a united front within the team, saying, “Hopefully, there will be no drama in the team, and we pray for peace and harmony so we can get the job done for the collective good. Nigeria needs to know we are a big team in Africa. We shouldn’t play like smaller teams.
” We need to attack in numbers and trust our defenders and goalkeeper. We must be ourselves and recapture what’s missing in our football today,” former Super Eagles of Nigeria star Osaze Odemwingie remarked.
