Victor Osimhen misses Antonio Conte’s first game as Napoli boss

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, missed his club’s first pre-season game due to fitness issues. SportsRation reports.

Napoli faced the local Italian side Anaune Val Di Non in Di Maro, with Antonio Conte overseeing his first game as the manager of the former Serie A champions.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen was initially named on the bench, but he was later seen in the stands. The club clarified that Osimhen had been working separately from the squad due to fitness concerns and was unavailable for Conte’s selection. He had also been unable to complete training sessions a few days prior, leaving with an ice pack on his ankle.

In his absence, Napoli secured a 4-0 victory with goals from Leonardo Spinazzola, Walid Cheddira, Gianluca Gaetano, and Cyril Ngonge. Conte set his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, featuring new signings Rafa Marin and Leonardo Spinazzola, and supported by Jesper Lindstrom and Matteo Politano in the attack.

Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move away from Napoli, with PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal and Saudi Arabian clubs rumoured to have interest in his services.
