Minister of Sports addresses Team Nigeria Paris Olympic games bonus concerns
Nigeria’s Sports Minister Senator John Enoh has announced when Team Nigeria athletes will get 2024 Paris Olympic games bonuses.
Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has assured that all camping allowances for Team Nigeria athletes will be fully paid before they depart from the 2024 Olympics in France.
Addressing the issue of delayed payments, which has plagued Nigerian athletes in the past, including those who performed exceptionally at the 2023 All African Games in Ghana, the Minister promised timely disbursement of funds. Nigeria achieved a surprising second-place finish at the competition despite the odds.
During an interactive session with sports writers in Abuja on Thursday, Enoh emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the athletes.
“Thankfully, the Federal Government, without deducting a dime, approved the budget for the 2024 Olympics. This shows the passion President Tinubu has for Nigerian sports. To this end, we won’t owe any athletes a dime, and all monies due to them will be paid before they depart from Paris,” he stated.
Enoh expressed optimism about Nigeria’s performance at the upcoming Olympics, saying, “With this in mind, we hope to surpass our best record at the Olympic Games in France.”
