US-Nigerian Basketballer David Nwaba joins San-en NeoPhoenix

San-en NeoPhoenix of the B1 League have secured the services of 31-year-old USA-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Nwaba, standing at 195 cm and weighing 99 kg, brings with him a wealth of experience from both domestic and international basketball.

Nwaba, who graduated from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo University in 2016, was a standout performer for the London Lions in the British BBL league last season.

He averaged 13.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game over 10 BBL games, playing a crucial role in helping the Lions secure the league title.

Additionally, he shone in the Eurocup, where he posted averages of 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 block per game across 9 appearances, contributing to his team’s semifinal run.

Nwaba also has experience in the NBA and NBA G League. He has played for several NBA teams, including the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets. His NBA G League stint includes a brief period with the Cruise and the South Bay Lakers.

In recognition of his standout performances, Nwaba was named to the Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention in 2024. His professional journey also includes participation in the Eurobasket Summer League, considered a top summer league for players aiming to showcase their talents for overseas opportunities.

Joining Nwaba on the San-en NeoPhoenix roster for the new season is Yante Maten, another USA player, as the team prepares for an exciting season ahead.
