Davido gets gift from Nigerian-born WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike

Nigerian-born WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike has made headlines with a special gift for Nigerian singer Davido. The Seattle Storm player recently gifted Davido a Seattle Storm jersey, sharing her excitement about the upcoming Afrobeat festival in Seattle on social media.

“Let me take you to the moon ” Ogwumike wrote. “So much joy going to the first Afrobeat festival in Seattle! #BlastFest put on a show like no other with the incredible help of @ogblast who made sure to bring all of our faves together in one place. Thank you @davido @musakeys @ayrastarr (AND all of the legends, educators, community leaders, and curators) who made this year’s fest one of a kind!”

Ogwumike, a former WNBA MVP, recently signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Storm after a successful stint with the Los Angeles Sparks, where she averaged 19.1 points and 8.8 rebounds in her final season. Despite exploring options with several teams, including the Phoenix Mercury, Chicago Sky, Atlanta Dream, and New York Liberty, she chose the Storm for their defined role and championship prospects.

Ogwumike’s recent public appearances, including her time in New York, sparked speculation about a potential move to the Liberty. However, she decided to join the Storm to team up with star guard Jewell Loyd and free agent Skylar Diggins-Smith.

Ogwumike, who was the first overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft and an eight-time All-Star, continues to make waves both on and off the court.
