Victor Boniface eyes another successful season with Bayer Leverkusen
Nigerian forward Victor Boniface is excited to build on his standout debut season with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Last season, Boniface made a significant impact, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 matches.
Despite his impressive performance and the team’s success, Boniface is focused on the present. “The funniest thing is that we have not had a conversation about next season yet. We’re taking things step by step,” he said.
As Bayer Leverkusen prepares for the Super Cup final against Stuttgart, the team is currently engaged in pre-season friendlies with Arsenal and Lens. Boniface acknowledges the challenges that lie ahead: “Everyone will want to beat us because of what we achieved last season, and it’s not going to be easy.”
The striker is determined to replicate the success of the previous campaign, where Leverkusen lost just one game all season. “We enjoyed what happened, how we made history and were celebrated by the club. And everyone that witnessed it wants to witness more,” Boniface remarked.
He added, “I’m ready to give 100 percent to achieve what we achieved last year, and I’m sure it’s the same for the rest of the players,” in an interview on the Counterattack podcast.
In addition to his football achievements, Boniface recently showcased his sense of humor on the Nigerian YouTube comedy series, ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’. His quick-witted responses left the host, Bae U, stunned, with one fan humorously noting, “I knew Boniface so well, savage no allow him to score again.”
Boniface’s stellar performance last season played a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen securing a historic domestic double in his first Bundesliga campaign.
