Peseiro Backs Lookman Over Osimhen for Technical Brilliance
Former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has sparked debate by placing Ademola Lookman ahead of Victor Osimhen in terms of technical ability.
Peseiro, who led Nigeria to a runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), believes Lookman’s skills in creating and scoring goals make him stand out.
“Ademola is more technical than Osimhen. He’s more inclined to create the game and is now adding goals to his game,” Peseiro told SportItalia.
He praised Lookman’s growth under Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, and noted how the forward has thrived in a system that emphasizes attacking play. “Italian football has changed a lot in recent years.
Players like Lookman and Osimhen are flourishing because they’re in teams that want to play and attack,” Peseiro added.
Lookman’s performances have caught the eye of top European clubs, with reports linking him to Arsenal and PSG.
Arsenal, in particular, is rumored to be preparing a substantial offer for the forward, potentially including defender Jakub Kiwior in the deal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is also back in the race to sign Osimhen, but they may face competition from Chelsea for the Napoli striker.
As both players continue to shine, Peseiro’s assessment of their abilities adds an intriguing layer to the ongoing transfer speculations surrounding these Nigerian stars.
