A’Ibom Sports Commissioner’s aide powers U-12 and U-14 Boys tournament to successful end
The 2024 Prince Ukeme Ukpong U-12 and U-14 Boys Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday, August 25, 2024, with Rockers FC and Full Life Football Academy emerging as champions in their respective categories.
The tournament, sponsored by Prince Ukeme Ukpong, the Personal Assistant to Sir Monday Uko, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, culminated in a grand finale at the Saint James African School Sports ground in Uyo.
Prince Ukpong attended the event alongside Comrade Amama Aloysius and Iniobong Ituen, both personal aides to the Akwa Ibom State Governor.
In the U-12 category, Rockers FC clinched the title after a dramatic 10-9 penalty shootout victory over Pillars Sports Academy, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The U-14 final saw Full Life Football Academy secure a 1-0 win over Pillars Sports Academy, with the match-winner coming in spectacular fashion just three minutes before the end of regulation time, much to the delight of the crowd.
Prince Ukeme Ukpong not only awarded generous cash prizes to the winning teams and individual performers but also reiterated his commitment to sustaining this talent development initiative.
In a chat with SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan at the venue of the grand-finale, fans praised the tournament sponsor for investing in ‘future champions’.
