Brown Ideye offers Victor Osimhen transfer advice amid Chelsea Interest
As the transfer window nears its close, former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has offered advice to Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who finds himself at the center of intense transfer speculation.
With Chelsea reportedly interested in the prolific forward, and lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League on the table, Osimhen faces a pivotal decision about his future.
Drawing from his own career experiences, Ideye took to social media to share a personal story that might resonate with Osimhen. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner recounted his unexpected transfer to China’s Tianjin TEDA, a move he hadn’t initially planned but was persuaded by the financial rewards.
“I had no plans to go to China,” Ideye shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Olympiacos received an offer from TEDA which they couldn’t refuse. My agent negotiated with TEDA about my salary and bonuses. When I saw the long numbers and told my wife, she packed my luggage for me to leave the next day, LOL.”
Ideye’s light-hearted recounting underscores the significant role financial incentives can play in a player’s decision-making process. He hopes this insight will help Osimhen as he weighs his options between a potential move to Chelsea or the attractive financial packages from Saudi Arabia.
This advice comes on the heels of Ideye’s recent criticism of Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, who reportedly ruled out a Chelsea move due to salary negotiations. Ideye expressed his disappointment, highlighting what he perceives as a lack of respect for Osimhen from European clubs, urging the young forward to carefully consider his next step.
Osimhen, who has yet to play for Napoli this season amid the ongoing transfer saga, now faces a crucial decision that could shape the trajectory of his career. As the clock ticks down, all eyes are on the Nigerian star to see whether he will stay in Europe or opt for a new challenge elsewhere.
