Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali signs new three-year deal with Chippa United
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Bobo Nwabali has signed a new three-year contract with Chippa United. The 27-year-old, who previously played for Enyimba International, has secured his future with the South African club after a standout performance in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Nwabali’s impressive display in the tournament, including two clean sheets in three group stage games and a penalty shoot-out masterclass in the semi-final against South Africa, solidified his position as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
His performances caught the attention of several clubs, including PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs, with Chippa United confirming they received over ten offers from clubs around the world.

Ending speculation about his future, Nwabali has committed to Chippa United, where he will also take on the role of team captain for the upcoming season.
In an official statement, Chippa United expressed their pride in Nwabali’s dedication and leadership: “We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead. We wish Stanley continued success in his career, both in domestic competitions and on the international stage.”
Nwabali’s new role as Chippa United captain comes just as he prepares to join Bruno Labbadia’s Super Eagles squad for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin Republic next month.
