Ghana Football Association opts for Togo to host Black Stars’ home games after CAF withdrawal
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to approach the Togolese Football Federation to host the Black Stars’ upcoming home games.
This decision follows the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) recent withdrawal of approval for the use of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi for international matches.
Initially, the GFA had considered hosting their next home match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria. However, recent reports from Accra indicate that Ghana has officially written to the Togolese Football Federation, seeking permission to play at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé.
Ghana’s national team has struggled in their recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, securing just one point from two matches. The Black Stars are set to face Sudan on matchday 3 of the qualifiers, a crucial fixture as they aim to improve their standing in the competition.
With the venue change now dependent on approval from Togo, Ghana will be hoping the Kégué Stadium will provide a suitable atmosphere for their quest to bounce back in the qualifiers.
