Victor Boniface reveals why he prefers German and Spanish football over Premier League amid transfer speculation

Bayer Leverkusen striker and Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has addressed growing speculation about a potential move to the English Premier League.

Boniface, who has enjoyed an impressive start to the new season with three goals and one assist in his first four matches, revealed his preference for Spanish and German football, despite being linked with Premier League giants.

The Nigerian international’s performances, including a crucial late winner against Wolfsburg after coming off the bench, have caught the attention of top European clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Boniface has remained firm on his stance regarding a move to England’s top flight.

In an interview with SportyTV, Boniface stated, “I don’t really like the Premier League. I’ve been saying this even before I had an international passport. I prefer Spanish football or German football.”

Despite his reservations about the Premier League, Boniface acknowledged that he wouldn’t completely rule out a move to England if the right opportunity arose. “I’m not saying if a good team comes for me, I will not go,” he added. “But if you ask me to pick two countries, I really want to play in Germany and Spain.”

Boniface’s preference for La Liga and the Bundesliga is consistent with his current trajectory in Europe. Since joining Bayer Leverkusen, he has become a key player for the club, further solidifying his reputation following an impressive season with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

While Premier League clubs may be monitoring his progress, Boniface’s comments suggest that his immediate future lies in Germany, with a potential move to Spain also on the cards later in his career.

For now, the 23-year-old forward remains focused on continuing his fine form for Leverkusen, with his performances likely to keep him on the radar of top European clubs.
