‘Manchester United are not good anymore’ – Emmanuel Emenike taunts Red Devils
Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has fired shots at Manchester United ahead of their Europa League match against his old club, Fenerbahce.
The much-anticipated match will take place at Kadiköy, where Emenike enjoyed a successful spell during his time with the Turkish side.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner responded to a Manchester United fan on social media, saying:
“We are ready for you. Welcome to Kadiköy. Manchester United are not that good anymore.”
Emenike’s comment reflects the struggles United have faced this season under manager Erik ten Hag, with the English club delivering inconsistent performances.
The match is crucial for both clubs, as their managers are under pressure to turn things around after a series of poor results.
Adding more excitement to the fixture, Fenerbahce will be led by José Mourinho, who took over as their head coach this summer. Mourinho, a former Manchester United manager, is familiar with the Premier League side, having managed them from 2016 to 2018.
In a lighthearted moment, Mourinho also commented about United’s 2017/18 season, joking:
“Maybe if Man City get punished with points, we can win that title, and they owe me a bonus and medal.”
As Fenerbahce prepares to host Manchester United later on Thursday night, Emenike’s words have added extra spice to the encounter. Fans will be eager to see if Fenerbahce can live up to his bold prediction and heap more pressure on ten Hag and his struggling side.
