Real Madrid Beats Getafe 2-0, Closes Gap on Barcelona
Real Madrid won 2-0 against Getafe, moving just one point behind La Liga leaders Barcelona. Despite controlling the game, Madrid missed several chances to score more goals.
Getafe started well, defending strongly against Madrid’s early attacks. The game changed when Antonio Rudiger was fouled in the box by Allan Nyom, and Madrid was awarded a penalty. Jude Bellingham confidently scored to give Madrid the lead.
Not long after, Kylian Mbappe made it 2-0 with a strong finish from Bellingham’s assist. In the second half, Getafe was initially awarded a penalty, but the decision was overturned by VAR.
Getafe’s best chance came when Nigerian striker Christantus Uche hit the post, but they couldn’t score. Meanwhile, Mbappe missed three clear chances to add to Madrid’s lead.
The win puts Real Madrid in second place, ahead of Atletico Madrid, and keeps the pressure on Barcelona at the top of the table.
