Mikel Obi Apologizes for Criticism of Nicolas Jackson’s Improvement
After a tough start to his career at Chelsea, 22-year-old striker Nicolas Jackson has found his form this season, scoring eight goals in the Premier League.
Former Chelsea player Mikel Obi has praised Jackson for his recent performances, admitting that the young forward has proved him wrong.
Earlier in the season, Mikel had expressed concerns about Jackson’s finishing, as the striker missed several chances. However, Jackson has since turned things around, impressing with his recent performances.
Mikel previously said, “I talk a lot about him, and it might seem like I disrespect him, but I don’t. Chelsea needs a striker who can score goals.”
Jackson responded to Mikel’s criticism with an Instagram post, telling the former Chelsea player to “shut his mouth.”
Now, Mikel has acknowledged Jackson’s improvement, especially his calmness in front of goal. “He has proved me wrong. He’s playing really well and has listened to what I said,” Mikel stated.
Mikel also praised Jackson’s hard work, saying, “I’m happy he took my advice. I said I would stay quiet as long as he keeps scoring and we keep winning, and that’s exactly what he’s done.”
This season, Jackson has scored eight goals and provided three assists in the Premier League, showing his improved finishing and becoming an important player for Chelsea.
