Super Eagles have two players in CAF Men’s XI for 2024
CAF has announced the top Men’s XI of the year, and two Nigerian players are included in the team.
The CAF Men’s XI is a highly anticipated part of the biggest celebration in African football. Last year, only one Nigerian player made the team, but this year, the Super Eagles have two players in the lineup.
CAF Men’s XI for 2024
CAF kept the same 3-4-3 formation as last year, with eight players from 2023 making the list again.
Andre Onana from Manchester United (Cameroon) remains the goalkeeper. The defensive trio from last year, Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal), Chancel Mbemba (DRC), and Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), are also back in the team.
In midfield, Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco) and Mohammed Kudus (Ghana) kept their spots, while Yves Bissouma (Mali) and Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast) replaced Frank Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon) and Thomas Partey (Ghana) from last year.
Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen in the Attack
Up front, Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, joined the squad, replacing Sadio Mane on the left side. His Super Eagles teammate, Victor Osimhen, and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah kept their places in the team.
CAF placed special importance on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) when selecting the squad, which is why players like Brahim Diaz, who had a strong season with Real Madrid, were left out of the 2024 CAF Men’s XI.
