Galatasaray Make First Bid for Osimhen Replacement

Galatasaray have taken a step toward signing a new striker by reportedly submitting an initial bid.

The Turkish champions have offered €17 million plus add-ons to Lyon for Georgian striker Georges Mikautadze, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Mikautadze, 24, joined Lyon this summer after a standout Euro 2024 campaign where he scored three goals in four matches. His performances earned him an €18.5 million move from Metz.

Despite Galatasaray’s offer, Lyon are holding out for more, as they reportedly value the forward higher than the initial bid.

Galatasaray had initially set their sights on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. However, his €75 million release clause at Napoli proved too high for the club.

The move for Mikautadze comes as Galatasaray look to strengthen their attack following an ACL injury to Mauro Icardi, which has sidelined the Argentine for the rest of the season. Bringing in Mikautadze during the January transfer window could help fill the gap in coach Okan Buruk’s squad.
