Nottingham Forest Insist Taiwo Awoniyi Is Not for Sale Amid West Ham Interest

Nottingham Forest have made it clear that Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is not for sale, despite strong interest from Premier League rivals West Ham United and other clubs.

Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Forest are determined to keep hold of the Nigerian international as they focus on their European ambitions this season. The club sees Awoniyi as a key part of their plans and are reluctant to lose him midway through the campaign.

Forest’s European Push and Squad Stability

Nottingham Forest are aiming to secure a place in European competitions and prioritise squad stability. Letting go of Awoniyi would disrupt their plans, as finding a suitable replacement during the January transfer window could prove challenging.

West Ham’s Striker Crisis

West Ham’s pursuit of Awoniyi has been fuelled by an injury crisis in their attack. With Michail Antonio sidelined for the rest of the season and Niklas Füllkrug facing a lengthy recovery from a hamstring injury, the Hammers are desperate for reinforcements.

Awoniyi’s Limited Game Time

Awoniyi has had limited opportunities this season, with just two Premier League starts and two cup appearances. This has reportedly led to speculation about his future, as regular playing time is crucial for his spot in the Super Eagles squad under new coach Eric Chelle.

However, Forest are standing firm, with sources indicating that the club values Awoniyi highly and have no intention of selling him during this transfer window.

Remaining Transfer Window

With only three weeks left in the January transfer window, West Ham and other interested clubs may intensify their efforts to sign the Nigerian striker. But Nottingham Forest’s stance suggests that Awoniyi will remain at the City Ground, at least for the rest of the season.

Awoniyi’s importance to Forest’s ambitions makes it unlikely that the club will entertain offers, regardless of the interest from other teams.
