Michael Owen Reacts to Iwobi’s Unusual Goals Against West Ham
Liverpool legend Michael Owen has shared his thoughts on Alex Iwobi’s two goals for Fulham in their 3-2 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Despite Iwobi’s impressive contribution, his goals were not enough to secure a win for Fulham in Graham Potter’s first Premier League match as West Ham’s manager.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen described Iwobi’s strikes as unconventional, suggesting they were intended as crosses rather than deliberate shots on goal.
“It’s a mistake, and then it’s a cross. Could the goalkeeper have done better? I’m not sure. It’s quite a tricky one,” Owen remarked.
He also noted the similarity between Iwobi’s two goals, adding, “Iwobi scored two goals, and both of them were crosses. Incredible.”
Iwobi’s efforts may not have changed the outcome of the match, but they highlighted his growing influence at Fulham this season. Known for his creativity and technical ability, the Super Eagles midfielder has already scored seven goals and provided three assists in the 2024–2025 campaign.
