Cyriel Dessers Scores Stunning Equaliser at Old Trafford, But United Steal Victory in Final Moments
Cyriel Dessers scored a brilliant late goal for Rangers at Old Trafford, but Manchester United snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory in the closing stages of their Europa League match.
United took the lead in the first half when Jack Butland’s attempted punch from a corner resulted in an own goal, giving the home side a 1-0 advantage.
Rangers responded with a stunning equaliser in the 88th minute. Harry Maguire made a mistake with a long ball, allowing Dessers to seize the opportunity and fire a well-placed shot past United’s goalkeeper.
However, in a frantic finale, Bruno Fernandes volleyed in a cross from Lisandro Martinez in added time to give Manchester United a 2-1 win, leaving Rangers heartbroken.
Despite a strong performance, including a near-goal earlier in the match where Dessers hit the post, Rangers couldn’t hold on for the draw, and United emerged victorious in a thrilling finish.
