Israel Adesanya yet to decide on next career step after latest UFC defeat
Israel Adesanya is yet to decide on his future after suffering a knockout defeat to Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Saudi Arabia.
The Nigerian fighter was stopped in the second round by the rising French star in Riyadh on Saturday, February 1st. It was Adesanya’s fourth loss in his last five fights, raising questions about whether he will continue competing.
Imavov took advantage when Adesanya was in a vulnerable position, using ground-and-pound to end the fight. Although Adesanya appeared upset that the referee stopped the contest, he was already in serious trouble and could have been knocked unconscious if the fight had continued.
Speaking after the fight, Adesanya, whose professional MMA record now stands at 24 wins (16 by knockout) and five defeats, said he will take time to reflect and make a decision about his future in the coming months.
