Tara Moore Banned from Tennis for 4 Years Over Dopin

British tennis player Tara Moore, 32, has been banned from tennis for four years because of doping.
This decision came just one day after another player, Lauro Milanović from Croatia, also got a serious punishment for doping.
Moore had been cleared of the charges by an independent panel 18 months ago, but the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) appealed that decision. Now, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned the earlier ruling and confirmed a four-year ban.
Details of the Case
Moore tested positive for banned substances—nandrolone and boldenone—in May 2022. At that time, she was suspended from playing. In late 2023, she was cleared by a tribunal, which said the drugs likely came from eating contaminated meat.
However, after reviewing all the scientific and legal evidence, CAS decided Moore couldn’t prove that the doping was unintentional. They said the amount of nandrolone in her system didn’t match what would be expected from eating contaminated food.
As a result, her four-year ban starts now but will be reduced by 19 months because of the time she already spent under provisional suspension. This means she won’t be able to return to professional tennis until early 2028.
Doping Issues in Tennis
Moore’s ban is one of the longest in recent tennis history. Recently, other top players like Wimbledon winners Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek have also been involved in doping cases, but none have received punishments as long as Moore’s.
