Ademola Lookman: Inter Milan lead transfer race for Africa’s Best Player

Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman is attracting major attention in the summer transfer window, with Inter Milan preparing a €60 million bid for the Atalanta forward. Barcelona, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation.
The 27-year-old had a strong 2024/25 season despite Atalanta’s mixed campaign, which ended with a third-place finish in Serie A and an early Champions League playoff exit to Club Brugge.
Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout performers, hitting double figures in goals and assists even though he was benched in some key matches.
Atalanta, who lifted the Europa League in the 2023/24 season, are now ready to cash in on one of their most valuable players before his contract runs down.
Inter Milan, under new coach Cristian Chivu, are leading the chase. According to Sportmediaset, the Nerazzurri see Lookman as a perfect fit for their new attacking system and are prepared to meet Atalanta’s valuation, boosted by funds from their Club World Cup campaign.
Chivu is said to admire Lookman’s pace, creativity, and tireless work rate—qualities he wants to build his forward line around.
Atletico Madrid have also shown interest, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Spanish club have held initial talks with Atalanta. After selling Ángel Correa to Tigres UANL, Atleti are looking for a dynamic left-sided forward, and Diego Simeone is keen on Lookman.
With Atalanta holding firm on their €60 million asking price, the coming weeks will be crucial for Lookman’s future. The Nigerian international has scored 52 goals and provided 25 assists in 118 appearances for the Bergamo club.
