Usyk Stops Dubois in Round Five to Remain Undisputed Heavyweight King

Oleksandr Usyk confirmed his status as one of boxing’s all-time greats by stopping Britain’s Daniel Dubois in the fifth round to become a three-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

The 38-year-old Ukrainian produced a brilliant performance in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, ending Dubois’ dream of being the first British fighter to unify the heavyweight division in the four-belt era.

Usyk knocked Dubois down twice in the fifth round, with the Londoner unable to beat the referee’s count the second time. This victory also marked Usyk’s second stoppage win over Dubois, having defeated him in 2023. He remains unbeaten as a professional with 24 wins.

“I’m sorry, Daniel, it’s sport. My people wanted this win,” Usyk told DAZN.

“Nothing is next. It’s enough for now. I want to rest with my family, my wife, and my children. Two or three months, I just want to rest.”

Dubois, who defended his IBF title by beating Anthony Joshua in September, suffered the third defeat of his career, with all three losses coming by knockout.

Usyk also reclaimed the IBF belt, which was stripped from him weeks after he unified the division in 2023. He now holds the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, and WBC titles.

“I have to commend him on the performance. I gave everything I had. Take nothing away from that man – I’ll be back,” Dubois said.

“I was fighting and trying to win round by round. It is what it is.”

Usyk Still the Man to Beat

The fight drew some of boxing’s biggest names to Wembley, including Roy Jones Jr and Frank Bruno. WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker was also present, eyeing a potential clash with Usyk.

The atmosphere was electric as both fighters received loud cheers, but it quickly became clear that Usyk’s experience and skill were on another level. Dubois started with a sharp jab, but Usyk’s slick movement and precise counters proved too much for him.
