Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Meets Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu

Chelsea football great Didier Drogba has called Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu his “brother” while helping bring a new electric boat race, the E1 Series, to Lagos.
Drogba, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote met recently in Monaco, France, to discuss the project. The meeting brought together the worlds of sport, politics, and business.
Drogba, who scored 104 goals for Chelsea and helped the club win the UEFA Champions League in 2012, is now involved in the E1 World Championship — a new electric boat racing event.
He shared a photo of the meeting on his social media, saying:
“It is always a pleasure to spend time with my brothers — my dear Aliko Dangote, His Excellency Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.”
He added:
“Yesterday in Monaco, we officially announced that Lagos, Nigeria, will host Africa’s first E1 Electric Boat Race.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu is a key figure in Nigeria’s biggest city, Lagos. His support, along with Dangote’s, is expected to help make the race a major success.
This partnership between Drogba, Sanwo-Olu, and Dangote is seen as an exciting move for sport and tourism in Africa. The first electric boat race in Lagos is expected to take place later this year.
