Abia Warriors Edge KMK Academy 1-0 in Uyo Preseason Friendly

Abia Warriors continued their build-up to their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Nationwide League side KMK Academy in a preseason friendly on the morning of Tuesday, 22 July 2025, at the Uyo Township Stadium.

The Warriors, who are in Uyo for an intensive preseason programme, used the match to test new players and sharpen their tactics ahead of their continental debut. Both teams put in a good performance, but a solitary goal was enough to hand the Umuahia-based club a slim win.

Coach Imama Amapakabo, who recently resumed training with the squad after speculation about a possible move to Kano Pillars, oversaw the game as he works on building a strong and competitive team for their historic CAF campaign.

More friendly matches are expected in the coming days as the team’s preparations enter a crucial phase.
