Victor Osimhen Tops List of Most Expensive Serie A Sales in Summer 2025

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named the most expensive player sold by a Serie A club during the 2025 summer transfer window, per Football Italia.

Napoli finally sold Osimhen this summer after a successful loan spell at Galatasaray last season. Although the Turkish club didn’t trigger the €75 million release clause before it expired, they still agreed to pay the full amount. The deal made him the costliest sale from Italy this summer.

Other Big-Money Moves from Serie A

Coming in second is Tijjani Reijnders, who left AC Milan for Manchester City. Milan received €57.7 million up front, with extra bonuses that could bring the deal up to €70 million.

Mateo Retegui of Atalanta moved to Saudi club Al-Qadsiah for €68 million — just one year after Atalanta signed him for €28 million from Genoa.

Two more Serie A players joined the English Premier League:

  • Dan Ndoye went from Bologna to Nottingham Forest for €45 million, including bonuses.

  • Malick Thiaw joined Newcastle United from Milan for €40 million.

Young Talent and Surprise Deals

Italy’s young defender Giovanni Leoni made a big move from Parma to Liverpool for €35 million, including bonuses. This was after just one season in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Sam Beukema moved from Bologna to Napoli for €31 million.

A complicated deal saw Juventus spend €28 million (including fees) to buy Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina after his loan spell. However, he has already been loaned out to Atletico Madrid, with a €32 million option to buy.

Several Players Sold for €25 Million

Three more players were sold for roughly €25 million, each including bonuses:

  • Theo Hernandez moved from Milan to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

  • Samuele Ricci joined Milan from Torino.

  • Roberto Piccoli left Cagliari for Fiorentina.

Also joining this price bracket is Nikola Krstovic, who left Lecce for Atalanta, also for €25 million.
