Why Ticket Sales for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Have Been Suspended

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2025 AFCON has paused ticket sales just hours after they started on Thursday.
The sales began with great excitement across Africa, but the demand was much higher than the system could handle, causing it to crash.
Fans from all over Africa and beyond rushed to buy tickets for the tournament, which will take place next year. This unexpected rush caused technical problems, forcing the LOC to stop sales.
In a statement, the LOC said, “The passion for African football is amazing, and the interest we’ve seen today shows that. We are working quickly to improve our systems so fans can buy tickets easily when sales start again.”
The committee promised to announce a new date for ticket sales soon, with better technology to manage the large number of fans.
The 2025 AFCON is expected to be one of the most exciting tournaments in recent years, with Africa’s best teams competing for the championship.
