NFF Holds 2025 Annual General Assembly in Ibadan
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) held its 2025 Annual General Assembly on Saturday at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In his remarks, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for their continued support for Nigerian football and the national teams. The Congress also praised the National Sports Commission, led by Mallam Shehu Dikko, for backing the federation’s programmes.
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, was commended for hosting the 81st NFF Congress and for welcoming the Falconets to Ibadan for their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. Delegates also applauded the people of Oyo State for their hospitality and commitment to sports development.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe were recognised for their ongoing support to Nigerian football.
The Congress celebrated the successes of the national teams, including the Super Falcons for winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, the Super Eagles for qualifying for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, and the Flying Eagles, Falconets and Flamingos for their strong performances internationally.
Looking ahead, the Congress backed the NFF’s plan to secure Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and called for sustained support for all national teams.
Other key decisions included:
- Approval of the 2024 audited financial statement presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
- Agreement to advertise for a new external auditor as PwC’s tenure had ended.
- Approval of the 2026 budget proposal.
- A directive to intensify grassroots football development, coaching education, refereeing training and infrastructure upgrades.
- Confirmation that progress had been made on FIFA-mandated amendments to the NFF Statutes, with an Extraordinary Congress to be held later to complete the process.
- Praise for improvements in the NPFL, NNL, NWFL and NLO, with a call for continued efforts to strengthen domestic competitions.
- An appeal to state governments to invest in standard football facilities that meet FIFA and CAF requirements.
The Congress also offered condolences to families in the football community who lost loved ones during the year and ended with a unanimous vote of confidence in the leadership of Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau and the NFF Executive Committee.
