WAFCON 2024 Winning Super Falcons Send Sports Equipment and Letter of Encouragement to Grassroots Teams
In a remarkable gesture of love and encouragement, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, winners of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), have sent sports equipment and a heartfelt letter of motivation to female football academies across the country.
One of the academies that received the package is Greater Tomorrow Sports Academy, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The items delivered to the academy this week included twelve footballs, cones, training gear, a kit bag, and a touching letter from the Super Falcons, accompanied by photos of their WAFCON triumph.
The initiative, described as unprecedented, is part of the team’s effort to inspire the next generation of female footballers and to celebrate their record-extending tenth continental success.

Reacting to the gift on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, the Director of Greater Tomorrow Sports Academy, Uyo, Coach Emmanuel Ntuk, expressed appreciation to the Super Falcons for their thoughtful outreach to grassroots teams.
“We are truly delighted by this act from the Super Falcons,” he said. “Their message and gifts will go a long way in boosting the morale of the next generation. Reading a letter from their heroes and using the equipment sent by them will inspire these young girls to dream bigger and work harder.”
Speaking on behalf of the excited players, Emediong Archibong, a young striker at the academy, told SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan that she was thrilled and inspired by the surprise package.
“I was so surprised and happy when I heard that the Super Falcons sent us gifts and a message,” she said. “Since we got the letter, my teammates and I have been reading it aloud every day. It inspires us to work harder so we can one day be like our role models.”
Recalling the thrilling WAFCON final where Nigeria came from two goals down to defeat Morocco, Emediong described it as a defining moment for her and her teammates.
“That night taught us never to give up,” she added. “The Super Falcons’ comeback was a great lesson for us, and this gift from them is so special. We are really grateful.”
Greater Tomorrow Sports Academy, Uyo, is recognised for producing talented footballers who have gone on to represent Nigeria at various levels in both the male and female categories.
