The Chairman of Ibom Angels Football Club, Prince Ukeme Ukpong, has expressed strong optimism about the team’s chances in the upcoming 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season.
Reacting to the draws held during the league’s Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Prince Ukpong described the new campaign as one that will be “remarkable” for Ibom Angels and their supporters.
He stated that the team has undergone serious preparation and will be far more dangerous to opponents this season. According to him, the Orange Ladies are ready to surpass expectations and make a lasting impression in the league.
“I don’t see our group as a threat,” Prince Ukpong said. “I’m confident in the players we have. This season will bring a lot of surprises because we are leaving no stone unturned.”
The club chairman added that the players and technical crew have worked tirelessly during pre-season to build a squad capable of competing with the best.
Prince Ukpong’s confidence reflects the renewed energy within the team as they prepare to face strong competition in Group A, which includes defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Adamawa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, and newly promoted sides Castmog FC and Pacesetters Queens FC.
He also praised the NWFL board for organising a successful Annual General Assembly and introducing new development plans aimed at improving the visibility and competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria.
“The NWFL board deserves commendation for its efforts to develop women’s football,” he said. “The coming season will be exciting, and I believe all teams will give fans a lot to cheer about.”
With the 2025/2026 season set to kick off soon, Ibom Angels will begin their campaign against Naija Ratel FC. Supporters are eager to see how the team performs under the leadership of Prince Ukpong, who continues to inspire confidence within the squad.
The Orange Ladies are targeting a strong showing in the abridged league format and hope to secure a place in the Super Six playoffs. With determination, teamwork, and a clear vision, Ibom Angels FC could well be one of the surprise packages of the new season.
