Remo Stars Deny Daniel Ogunmodede’s Resignation Rumours
Remo Stars Football Club have dismissed rumours suggesting that head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has resigned from his role.
Speculation had spread earlier this week following the club’s recent struggles, including a disappointing 7-1 defeat to South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.
However, in an official statement released via social media on Wednesday, 5 November, the club confirmed that Ogunmodede remains fully committed to Remo Stars.
“Remo Stars Football Club wishes to clarify that our head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, remains an integral part of our technical crew and continues to serve as the head coach of Remo Stars FC,” the statement read.
The club explained that Ogunmodede is currently attending a CAF B Coaching Course in Abuja as part of his professional development. He is also engaged with the Nigerian national team as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup African play-offs, potential intercontinental play-off, and the Africa Cup of Nations later this year.
“He remains a valued and vital member of the Remo Stars family, and we eagerly look forward to his successful completion of these national and personal engagements,” the club added.
Ogunmodede, who has been with Remo Stars for over a decade, guided the club from the lower divisions to top-flight success, including last season’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.
The club emphasised that this is a time for unity and support as both Ogunmodede and Remo Stars work towards greater achievements in Nigerian football.
