Troost-Ekong, Fredericks to Join Super Eagles Camp as Osimhen Heads to Morocco

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong and defender Benjamin Fredericks were expected to arrive at the team’s hotel in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday night to join the early arrivals ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Play-off Tournament.

Their arrival will increase the number of players in camp to nine, joining Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, and Samuel Chukwueze, who reported earlier.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle had on Saturday announced a 24-man squad for the crucial tournament, which will determine Africa’s representative for the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico next year.

Nigeria will face Gabon in the first semi-final on Thursday, 13 November, at the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan in Rabat. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. local time, the same as in Nigeria.

Most of the remaining players are expected to arrive on Monday as the three-time African champions step up preparations for the decisive clash with the Panthers of Gabon. The second semi-final will see Cameroon take on the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the winners of both matches meeting on Sunday for Africa’s single ticket to the Intercontinental Playoffs.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was seen in a video hurrying through an airport to catch a flight to Morocco after Galatasaray’s 2–1 loss to Kocaelispor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigerian forward, who played the full match without any injury concerns, looked focused and determined as he prepared to link up with his international teammates ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifying campaign.
