Nigerian Star Gabe Vincent Still Not Ready for Return From Ankle Injury
Nigerian-born basketball star Gabe Vincent is still not ready to return to action for the Los Angeles Lakers as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
According to The Athletic’s Law Murray, Vincent has increased his on-court activities but has not yet been cleared for one-on-one sessions or full-contact training.
The 28-year-old guard is currently travelling with the Lakers on their five-game road trip, a sign that he is making progress. However, his return to competitive action is still some way off.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick had earlier expressed hope that Vincent could be back around the three-week mark of his initial 2–4 week recovery timeline, which would have meant a possible return by November 18. But that now looks doubtful, as the team will have limited practice time while on the road.
Vincent joined the Lakers from the Miami Heat after playing a key role in their 2023 NBA Finals run. He has struggled with injuries this season and has been limited to only a few appearances so far.
The Lakers will continue to monitor his progress, with hopes that the Nigerian international can regain full fitness and strengthen their backcourt rotation in the coming weeks.
