Atalanta BC have officially sacked head coach Ivan Jurić after a poor start to the Serie A season.
The Croatian manager was dismissed late on Monday, only a few hours after a 3–0 home loss to Sassuolo dropped the club to 13th place in the table.
Jurić’s time in charge began in June with high hopes but ended after just five months. The former Torino coach struggled to bring back the energy and attacking style that once made Atalanta so exciting to watch. His team managed only three wins in eleven matches and often looked short of confidence.
The club confirmed the decision in an official statement: “Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Jurić has been relieved of his duties as first team coach. The club would like to thank him and his staff for their professionalism and commitment.”
Jurić was seen as a smart appointment when he joined in June 2025. He had a good reputation for tactical discipline, high pressing, and motivating his players. However, Atalanta’s performances were inconsistent, and their attack lacked creativity compared to the dynamic football shown under former manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
Atalanta now sit 13th in Serie A with only three wins and one of the lowest goal totals in the league. Reports suggest the board lost patience with the team’s lack of progress and decided a change was needed to revive their push for European qualification.
The club has not yet announced a replacement. Italian media have linked former Napoli coach Rudi Garcia and ex-Atalanta assistant Matteo Paro with the job.
