Osimhen Confident Super Eagles Will Reach 2026 World Cup

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has once again stressed the importance of Nigeria qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reminding fans and teammates that the team has everything needed to secure a place at the tournament.
Nigeria missed the last World Cup in Qatar, a setback that still pains many supporters. This time, Eric Chelle’s side are fighting to reach the finals through the play-offs after failing to claim an automatic ticket.
The Super Eagles took a big step forward on Thursday with a 4–1 victory over Gabon in the semi-final of the play-offs. They now face DR Congo in Sunday’s decisive match in Rabat.
Osimhen believes firmly in the team’s ability to return to the world stage. Speaking in a recent interview, he said: “We can get it done. We have the squad to actualise this dream of going to the World Cup because everyone wants to go to the World Cup.”
The striker’s confidence has lifted the mood around the camp as Nigeria prepare for one of their most important matches in recent years. The team will hope to finish the job on Sunday and book their ticket to the 2026 global showpiece.
