Eberechi Eze was the star of the show as Arsenal beat Tottenham 4–1 at the Emirates Stadium, with the midfielder scoring a stunning hat-trick to extend Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League.
The atmosphere around the stadium was already intense before kick-off, especially after Eze’s mural outside the ground was recently vandalised. The artwork has since been fixed, now carrying the message: “All roads lead home.”
And on derby day, Eze truly came home. From the first whistle, he looked sharp, dangerous and confident. After Leandro Trossard opened the scoring, Eze produced three brilliant goals of his own, each one showing his skill, calm finishing and creativity.
His first came after he danced through the edge of the Spurs box before smashing the ball into the net. His second and third were clever, curled finishes into the corners, leaving Spurs helpless and their manager, Thomas Frank, frustrated.
Even a spectacular 45-yard lob from Richarlison to make it 3–1 could not lift Spurs. They struggled badly, creating almost nothing and failing to threaten Arsenal at any point. The away fans began to leave long before the final whistle.
Arsenal, meanwhile, took full advantage of Manchester City’s defeat the day before and now sit six points clear at the top of the table. Eze nearly added a fourth for himself late on, but goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario denied him.
For Spurs, it was another disappointing performance following recent setbacks. For Arsenal, it was a dream day — and for Eze, an unforgettable derby that showed exactly why the club fought so hard to sign him.
