Chelsea Outclass 10-Man Barcelona 3–0 in Champions League Clash

Chelsea produced a dominant performance at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, beating 10-man Barcelona 3–0 in a Champions League league-phase match.

The spotlight before the game was on two teenage stars, Chelsea’s Estevao and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. And it was Estevao who stole the show with a stunning solo goal. Ten minutes into the second half, the 18-year-old picked up the ball on the right, used quick footwork to beat two defenders, and fired into the top corner past Joan Garcia. It was his 10th goal of the season in his first year at Chelsea.

Barcelona were already a goal down and had captain Ronald Araujo sent off shortly before half-time for a second yellow card. Estevao’s strike made their task even more difficult.

Chelsea sealed the win in the 73rd minute when substitute Liam Delap finished from close range. The goal was first ruled out for offside, but VAR overturned the decision.

Chelsea had been the better side from the start. Enzo Fernández twice put the ball in the net early on, but both goals were disallowed — the first for a handball and the second for offside. Barcelona also missed a big chance when Ferran Torres shot wide in a one-on-one situation.

The opening goal came in the 27th minute after a short-corner routine, with Jules Koundé accidentally turning the ball into his own net under pressure.

Barcelona struggled to respond, offering little going forward, and the home fans even mocked Yamal as he was substituted late in the match.

The result leaves Chelsea, back in the Champions League after two seasons away, with three wins from their first five matches. They now have a strong chance of finishing in the top eight, which would guarantee a place in the last 16.

Chelsea are also in good form domestically, sitting second in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s clash with leaders Arsenal.
