O’Neill Gives Update on Iheanacho Ahead of Feyenoord Clash

Celtic interim manager Martin O’Neill has spoken about the fitness of Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho as the team prepares for their Europa League match against Feyenoord.
The striker returned to training this week after more than a month out with a hamstring injury. His last appearance for Celtic was in the Europa League against Sturm Graz on matchday three. Since then, he has missed six matches across all competitions.
Although Iheanacho trained with the squad before the trip to Rotterdam, O’Neill warned that it does not mean he will play on Thursday. He said the final decision will depend on the player’s fitness when the team is assessed again.
“Yes, they travelled. We’ll see,” O’Neill told reporters. “The amount of work they haven’t done will be something I look at over the next 24 hours.”
When asked if Iheanacho brings qualities the team has been missing in recent games, the coach responded: “I think the short answer would be yes. You’re looking for fit people. We’ll see.”
Iheanacho joined Celtic in September and has made eight appearances so far, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The club will hope he returns fully fit soon as they push for progress in Europe.
