Snubbed Super Eagles Star Tolu Arokodare Scores First Premier League Goal Days After AFCON Omission

Tolu Arokodare scored his first Premier League goal just days after he was left out of the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by head coach Eric Chelle.
The Nigerian striker found the net in stoppage time for Wolves during their dramatic league clash against Arsenal on Saturday. Arokodare rose highest to head the ball past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, scoring a late equaliser and marking his maiden goal in the English top flight.
His goal briefly gave Wolves hope of earning a valuable point at the Emirates Stadium. However, Arsenal went on to score a late winner after Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera turned the ball into his own net.
Arokodare’s strike came only days after his name was missing from Nigeria’s AFCON squad list, a decision that sparked reactions among fans who felt the forward deserved a chance.
Despite Wolves ending the match without a point, the goal was a personal milestone for Arokodare and a strong response to his international snub, as he continues to push his case with performances on the pitch.
