Chicago Bulls to retire Derrick Rose’s No. 1 Jersey
The Chicago Bulls will retire Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the United Center. The ceremony will take place after the Bulls’ game that night, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET and available on NBA League Pass.
Rose, a Chicago native, is one of the most important players in franchise history. Drafted No. 1 overall in 2008, he quickly became the face of the Bulls, winning NBA Rookie of the Year in 2009 and later becoming the youngest MVP in league history in 2011.
Ahead of the jersey retirement, Rose reflected on what Chicago means to him.
“I will never forget where I came from,” Rose said. “I’m glad to say I’m from Chicago.”
The Bulls echoed that sentiment in their social media announcement, calling Rose’s journey “one of the greatest Chicago stories ever told.”
Rose has often spoken about his mindset and what drives him, even after injuries altered the course of his career.
“It made me remember I am trying to be great,” Rose said. “You hear me? GREAT.”
The jersey retirement follows Derrick Rose Night, held in Chicago, where fans filled the arena and celebrated his impact on the city and the team.
When Rose’s No. 1 is raised to the rafters, he will join Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Jerry Sloan, and Bob Love as the only players in Chicago Bulls history to have their jerseys retired.
