Eniola Bolaji rises to World No. 1 in Para-Badminton
Nigeria has a new world number one.
Eniola Bolaji has risen to World No. 1 in the women’s SL3 category, following the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation on Tuesday, February 17.
The rise comes off the back of an outstanding performance at the World Para-Badminton Championships in Bahrain, where Bolaji claimed a silver medal. That result proved enough to push her to the top of the rankings and cap a strong run on the international stage.
Already a Paralympic bronze medallist, Bolaji’s climb to world number one is another major milestone for Nigerian badminton and para-sport as a whole.
For Nigeria, this is more than a ranking update. It is a statement moment.
