‘Opportunity Lost’ – Maduka Okoye Reflects on Udinese Defeat to Juventus

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has spoken about Udinese Calcio’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Juventus FC in the Serie A.

The Nigerian shot-stopper shared his thoughts after the match, saying his team had the chance to get a positive result despite the loss.

Udinese battled throughout the game but could not stop Juventus from scoring the only goal that decided the contest. The result meant Juventus claimed all three points.

Speaking after the final whistle, Okoye admitted that his side had hoped to take at least a point from the match but also recognised the quality of their opponents.

“Today we had the opportunity to get at least a point, but Juventus is a very strong team,” Okoye said.

The 26-year-old also stressed that the team must quickly move on from the defeat and focus on their next league fixture.

“Now we have to focus on the next match,” he added.

Okoye also spoke about his own performance during the game. While he was pleased with how he played, the Nigerian goalkeeper said the most important thing for the team is to earn points.

“I’m happy with my performance, but in the end, what matters is that the team gets points,” he said. ⚽
